Organization Overview: United Teachers of Dade (UTD) is the exclusive bargaining agent representative for approximately 30,000 Teachers and Education Support Professionals employed by Miami Dade County Public Schools.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide excellent service to UTD members.
Assist the Professional Development staff person with the completion of their duties.
Work directly with the Professional Development staff person to assist in providing quality Professional Development for UTD members.
JOB RELATED TASKS:
Provide Service to members:
- Answer calls, respond to member requests for information related to professional development.
- Provide clerical support.
- Assist UTD members seeking information on Florida Teaching Certification Examinations.
- Assist Professional Development trainers.
- Assist the Professional Development staff person with timely responses to member needs.
Assist with Coordination of Activities:
- Maintain and update all databases, RSVP lists, and other information as it relates to Professional Development.
- Assist in coordinating Professional Development trainings and providing logistical support for the successful execution of events.
- Maintain Professional Development materials and supplies inventory to support the Professional Development program and order materials/supplies when needed.
- Create all event related materials (nametags, sign-in sheets, table tents, etc.) prior to each Professional Development session.
- Prepare documents as directed, reserve room(s), order food and beverages, materials, audiovisual aides, etc. necessary for Professional Development.
- Maintain and regularly update the UTD Professional Development calendar.
- Assists with the Professional Development task force.
- Prepare Professional Development ads for weekly Expresso and other media outlets.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the employee may be assigned to perform other duties as deemed necessary by management. On occasion, the employee may be required to travel out of county/state and/or attend meetings in the evening or on weekends, at the employer’s expense. Flexible hours may be required to meet the responsibilities of this position. A valid Florida driver’s license is required as well as clearance to enter school sites under the Jessica Lunsford act. This work is primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is moderately physical work which requires the following physical activities: bending, stooping, crouching, lifting, twisting, finger dexterity, repetitive motions reaching, sitting, standing, walking, driving, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. This work is primarily indoors and outdoors.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
- Problem solving
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Ability to function in fast-paced environment, and relate to diverse needs
- Proficiency in all aspects of current software utilized by the employer including internet and email
- High School diploma required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in related field preferred
Compensation: Salary $22,500. Medical insurance, life insurance, and retirement benefits. Generous leave and holidays.
