Job Title: Accounting Clerk/Expense Account Audit Clerk

BASIC FUNCTION
Will review, classify, summarize and analyze all expense accounts and related expense items.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To include, but are not limited to, those listed below. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Process Arbitration Advocates and as needed Designee LWOP and expense vouchers in accordance with the APWU expense reimbursement policies and guidelines.
- Insure accurate classification of expenses and LWOP.
- Review, post and process checks daily.
- Maintain receivables
- Prepare field office inventory report for personal property tax as required.
- Prepare monthly and annual schedules and reports.
- Reconcile monthly and annual schedules to the General Ledger.
- Develop and prepare special reports, summaries and analyses as required.
- Respond to expense-related inquires.
- May be required to contact APWU personnel, members, or others parties to obtain information and reconcile discrepancies.
- Assist with answering the Department’s telephone.
- Other duties as assigned in relationship to functional purpose.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Ability to type 45 wpm.
- Ability to perform duties with accuracy using a 10-key calculator.
- Ability to perform duties on the computer utilizing the Excel application.
- Knowledge of how accounting records are maintained and filed.
- One year accounting experience and/or bookkeeping with knowledge of disbursement functions.
- Knowledge of Great Plains or other accounting-type software preferred.
- Ability to use office equipment such as copiers, scanners, fax, etc.
- Attentiveness to detail.
- Must be dependable, responsible, and demonstrate good telephone courtesy.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationship with APWU personnel, members and general public.
