The qualified candidate must have at least 2 years experience working in the IT field as a Desktop Technician/ Jr. Administrator. Provide support to staff on all union supported applications. Troubleshoot computer problems, determine source and advise on appropriate action. Provide phone and in-person support to users in the areas of e-mail, directories, standard Windows desktop applications, and applications used by the union. Help manage servers in a VMware/Windows environment. Physical network experience necessary. Ability to adapt and learn new technologies – Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on detail and follow up.
Duties of the position are as follows:
- Perform equipment setup for new hires; hardware software installations
- Computer orientation to new staff
- Determine source of computer problems (hardware, software, user access, etc.) and resolve issues. Document resolutions for future reference
- Clean, modify and repair computer hardware including monitors, keyboard and printers
- Toner inventory and replacement
- Assist in the administration of an Active Directory infrastructure
- Aid in server maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintaining network switches, testing lines, making Ethernet cables when necessary
- Maintain Exchange and implement new policies using Exchange2010/2016
- Microsoft Office 365 installation, maintain, update experience a plus
- Help manage network security; SonicWALL NSA2600 Firewall, 3300 E-mail security appliance
- Symantec Antivirus deployment
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to learn and support new applications
- Comprehensive understanding of computer hardware, software, individual and network printers
- Possess excellent problem-solving skills and ability to instruct users on the procedures to solve their own minor computer issues when necessary
- Knowledge of Server 2008r2, 2012r2, 2016r2, Exchange 2010, *Office 365
- Windows 7, 10
- Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word and Access 2007 and 2016.
- A+, Network +, Microsoft certifications related to server/networking a plus
- Associates degree or equivalent work experience
- Other duties as assigned
Starting salary is between $40,000 and $45,000, depending on experience.
