I am part of local 111 out of NY, my workplace is based in Guam. we recently underwent a RIF. The company worked with the union to keep as many people who are quailifed. I was one who had been terminated and replaced with someone who had no experance and no training to preform my job. Simply based on senority he was kept. According to our CBA, the iperson who is bumping is to have skill, ability and experance to preform the job. Since day one he has underwent training, and is yet to complete the training. My union rep told me because he is senior there is nothing that I can do. I have filled a grevance and it was shot down before arbitration. My rep states that Senority is the most important, but shouldn't the CBA be followed? There is no one currently emplyed with my company that has had specific training but myself. Might anyone have an idea on what mesaures I can take if my union doesn't even want to fight for my right based in the CBA.
