New York Legislative Campaign Organizer

Working Families is searching for a Legislative Campaign Organizer who can help implement game changing strategies for our Paid Family Leave campaign and other key legislative priorities. The work is primarily based in Long Island. The Legislative Campaign Organizer will be directly supervised by the Legislative Campaign Manager.


  • Collaborate with core coalition partners
  • Assist in grassroots advocacy actions including coordinating rallies/press conferences, letters-to-the-editors/op-eds, etc
  • Build relationships with allied organizations and elected officials to create strategic, mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Provide legislative support through resolution/legislation enactment in local governing bodies
  • Support the NY Communications team (traditional and new media)
  • Develop campaign materials for public education purposes


  • A passion and commitment to social, economic, and racial justice
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated focus on policy analysis
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills to assess threats and recommend actionable solutions
  • Limitless tenacity
  • Ability to work effectively with strong personalities, peers, public officials, and allies
  • Minimum of two years similar experience in grassroots non-profit, labor, or political organization
  • A valid driver’s license

Salary and Benefits

Salary for this position is commensurate with the amount of relevant professional experience that a candidate possesses. A competitive benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and life insurances, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid holidays, and generous vacation and sick time.
